Message from the President

As we approach mid-year I look back at the last three months and marvel at the full program of events scheduled and fully subscribed.

In early March we welcomed Ross Paterson from Australia to tutor two workshops. He introduced us to his favourite combinations of colours and he treated the water on his brush as if there was a drought! Eighteen artists from around New Zealand participated in the five day Outdoor Painting Week. From Seatoun to the Akatarawa hills they enjoyed painting a different scene each day, from an old Anglican Church in the countryside to the Duck Pond at the Botanic Gardens.

We are very fortunate to have wonderful tutors. Artists quickly snap up places in our workshops. Jan Thomson tutored a workshop on painting birds. Jacky Pearson tutors our beginners annually with great skill.

Amazingly, we had brilliant weather for the Lake Brunner Paintaway. Seventy-five artists from around New Zealand enjoyed five days painting in a magical place. Pete James and Sue Wild masterminded this event supported by the committee. Watch for events to keep those brushes moving during the colder months.

People have enquired about Splash 2024 . Start painting now!

For the first time we will hold a Paintaway in Whangarei in November this year.
It goes without saying that our committee is amazing, contributing ideas and passion. My grateful thanks go to them.
